The professional level exam has 170 questions which you have to finish answering in 3 hours, while the subprofessional level exam has 165 items which you should finish in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Both the Professional and Subprofessional levels of the exam include 20 Personal Information Questions.
Both exams have General Information Questions on the Philippine Constitution, RA 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees), Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts, and Environment Management and Protection.
Both exams also have Verbal and Numeral Ability tests but the number of items vary for every category, every batch:
- Verbal Ability = Vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, paragraph organization, reading comprehension – mostly in English but also includes questions in Filipino
- Numerical Ability = Simple arithmetic, graph interpretation, word problems
What makes the two exams different is that the Professional level has logical reasoning questions. Logical Reasoning questions include number series questions, single-word or double-word analogy questions, questions on finding the best assumption or the best conclusion based on a given argument, etc.
On the other hand, the SubProfessional level has questions on clerical operations such as alphabetizing and filing.
