The CSC or the Civil Service Commission uses the Civil Service Exam or the CSE-PPT (Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test) to determine which individuals are fit to work for the government.
If you want to work for government agencies and offices, Civil Service Eligibility in the Philippines is usually one of the qualifications you’ll have to meet. Those who pass the Professional Level of the exam will be eligible for both first and second level positions (professional, technical and scientific up to division chief) while those who pass the SubProfessional level can be appointed to first level positions (clerical, trades, crafts and custodial service).
If you are currently employed as a job order/contractual/casual/special project worker in a Government establishment, passing the exam may mean that you’ll get a permanent job or become a regular employee in your office. If you become a regular employee, that means you will then be entitled to salary increases, incentives, promotions, and more.
If you currently have no plans to work for the government, passing the exam can also boost your career credentials. Also, if an opportunity in your ideal government office comes your way, it would be handy if you already have a civil service eligibility.
In addition to that, passing the civil service exam can also give you feelings of self-efficacy and success. Imagine, hundreds of thousands take the civil service exam twice a year. If you can be amongst the 10-12% of these aspirants who succeed, wouldn’t you be so proud?
